Martin’s Cycle Tour: Discover Walloon Brabant and Beyond by Bike

A cyclist-friendly route

This summer, embark on an adventure with the Martin’s Cycle Tour




a 444 km cycling route spread over 7 days and 8 nights, connecting the various hotels of the Martin’s group.

From Brussels to Flemish Brabant, through Antwerp Province and, of course, Walloon Brabant, this unique slow tourism experience invites you to take your time and discover the local heritage while enjoying the comfort of Martin’s hotels.


 


Each stage of the Martin’s Cycle Tour covers between 51 and 68 km, an ideal distance for enjoying the scenery without overexerting yourself.

Whether you're an experienced cyclist or a beginner, you can start the tour at the hotel of your choice.

Driving? No worries: it’s recommended to start at Martin’s Red in Tubize, where secure parking is available.

For added convenience, the Martin’s group handles luggage transfers between each stop, allowing you to travel light and stress-free.

You can also choose to complete only certain stages and return to your starting point by train.

With GPX files provided, you can follow the route precisely and not miss any hidden treasures along the way.

Here’s an overview of the different stages:

Day 1: From Tubize to Waterloo

The adventure begins in Tubize, heading towards Waterloo.

Along the way, stop at Ronquières to admire its impressive inclined plane, then continue along the old canal to the Château de Seneffe, a gem of 18th-century neoclassical architecture.

After passing through Nivelles via the RAVeL route, dive into history at Waterloo, visiting Mont-Saint-Jean Farm, home to a British hospital museum and microbrewery, as well as the Memorial 1815 and the iconic Lion's Mound.

Day 2: From Waterloo to Genval

Head towards the Solvay Regional Estate in La Hulpe, a lush retreat perfect for recharging.

Along the way, don’t miss the Aywiers Abbey and the 12th-century Cistercian gem, Villers-la-Ville Abbey, complete with its microbrewery and local vineyard. End your day by relaxing at Genval Lake

Day 3: From Genval to Louvain-la-Neuve

Pedal towards Louvain-la-Neuve, passing through Ottignies and Walhain, the geographic center of Belgium.

Be sure to visit the Hergé Museum, dedicated to the creator of Tintin, and the Museum L, home to over 1,500 artifacts.

Day 4: From Louvain-la-Neuve to Leuven

Ride through the forests of Lauzelle and Beumont before arriving in Leuven, with its stunning Grand Beguinage.

Don’t miss the Park Abbey and the city’s botanical garden.

Day 5: From Leuven to Mechelen

This stage takes you to Mechelen, where you’ll stay at Martin’s Patershof, a unique hotel set in a former church.

Follow the Dyle canal, once used to transport beer barrels, and discover local breweries and provincial estates

Day 6: From Mechelen to Brussels

Head to the capital, stopping at Meise Botanical Garden and Bouchout Castle.

Cycle on to the Grand Place in Brussels, passing by the Atomium, the Sablon district, and the Cinquantenaire Park.

Day 7: From Brussels to Tubize

On this final stage, ride through the Sonian Forest and the Bois de la Cambre before heading back to Tubize.

Take the opportunity to explore the Pajottenland region, famous for its local beers like Gueuze and Lambic, and finish with a visit to Beersel Castle.
